A detached house has lots of room for things: cellar, attic, garage, workshop, garden shed. We plan the clearance with enough staff and vehicles to remove even large volumes quickly.
What’s included
- Clearance including garage, workshop and garden
- Several vehicles at once
- Proper disposal
- Ready for sale, letting or demolition
How a house clearance works
- You tell us the house, the outbuildings – garage, workshop, garden – and the date.
- Survey on site; with a large volume we plan stages: a partial clearance first, the rest later.
- Written quote – by time and volume or, on request, at a fixed price.
- Clearance with several vehicles at the same time, electrical devices and hazardous waste disposed of separately.
- Ready for handover for sale, letting or demolition.
What affects the price
The price has two parts: the team’s working time, charged for the time actually worked, and disposal by volume.
- One vehicle with two people costs CHF 225 to 260 per hour, depending on the job. A flat fee of CHF 190 per vehicle and job is added for the vehicle, fuel and the journey there and back (within the region; longer distances as quoted).
- For disposal we reckon with CHF 40 to 50 per cubic metre, depending on the material.
- We charge a minimum of 3 hours.
These rates include VAT. On request we quote a fixed price after the free survey that includes everything, VAT too.
These points determine working time and volume (typical prices: clearance costs):
- Volume
- Outdoor areas
- Hazardous waste
- Date
What a whole house adds
- Outbuildings: the garage, workshop, garden shed and woodshed are easily forgotten when estimating the volume.
- Workshop and garage: paint and chemicals are hazardous waste and are disposed of separately. We do not transport gas cylinders or fuel.
- Garden: garden furniture, pots, tools and green waste – tell us what belongs to the house and stays.
- Fixed installations such as the heating system or an oil tank are not household contents. Clarify with the buyer or a specialist firm what happens to them.
- Purpose of the handover: sale, letting or demolition place different demands on clearing and cleaning.
Our tip
When selling a house, coordinate the clearance date with your agent and notary.
From our experience
A house is rarely cleared in one go. Families often sort things for weeks before we come. We adapt: a partial clearance first, the rest later.
More on this in the guide Household clearance checklist.
