Good to know: Moving from Switzerland to Belgium
- A car can be brought in duty-free if you have lived outside the EU for at least 12 months, owned and used it for at least 6 months, import it within 12 months of the move and keep it in Belgium for at least 12 months afterwards.
- This is followed by a customs declaration (Single Administrative Document, pink form with customs vignette 705), a technical inspection and registration with the DIV. Registration tax (BIV) is due once the car is used on Belgian roads.
