Good to know in the canton of Bern

• Cantonal law required every Bernese municipality to offer digital move reporting no later than two years after 1 February 2024, i.e. by early 2026.
• You must register with the residents‘ office within 14 days (Art. 1 para. 1 of the Bernese Act on Residence of Swiss Citizens, BSG 122.11).
• Five regional bodies handle tenancy disputes: the conciliation authorities of Bern-Mittelland, Berner Oberland, Emmental-Oberaargau and Berner Jura-Seeland, plus the Autorité régionale de conciliation Jura bernois. They also advise on notice dates and the flat handover.

Bern is about 120 km away. We usually carry out the survey by video call, for large households and businesses on site. The journey is a separate item in the quote. For larger households on long distances we use two vehicles so that as few trips as possible are needed over the distance; on request we use one vehicle and more hours.
