We have our depot and office in Winterthur – our teams for the region set off from there. That helps when things have to happen fast: furniture that cannot go straight into the new flat does not have to travel across the canton. This page explains what applies in Winterthur in an emergency – parking, bulky waste and the old town.
In short
Call us. If a team is free, we come the same day. Our depot and office are at Zürcherstrasse 320 in Winterthur – the teams start there, and furniture that needs to be stored temporarily has a short way to go. The city police only block off marked parking bays; bulky waste goes with the refuse round, and large quantities can go to the waste incineration plant (KVA).
How quickly we can be in Winterthur
Our depot and office are at Zürcherstrasse 320, 8406 Winterthur; for jobs in Winterthur our teams set off directly from there. Our head office is in Spreitenbach. If a team is free, we come the same day; otherwise we tell you the next free date on the phone. You can reach us Monday to Friday 8 am–10 pm, Saturday 8 am–8 pm and Sunday 1–6 pm. We work until 10 pm, with your neighbours’ consent until midnight; Sundays and public holidays by arrangement.
Parking in Winterthur when there is no time for a reservation
In Winterthur, the administrative police (Verwaltungspolizei) of the city police block off parking bays via a form (phone 052 267 58 68). Only marked parking bays can be blocked off; the fees are invoiced by the civil engineering office (Tiefbauamt). How long processing takes we clarify case by case – in an emergency we do not count on it.
What still works – loading instead of parking, private areas, a smaller vehicle or a furniture lift – is explained, with the legal basis, on the page Emergency move.
Bulky waste in Winterthur: what cannot wait
In Winterthur, bulky waste goes with the refuse round without registration: put it out the evening before from 6.30 pm or on collection day by 6.45 am, with bulky-waste stickers according to weight. Large quantities, for example from a house clearance, can be delivered directly to the KVA Winterthur; a minimum fee of CHF 60 applies per delivery.
If the flat has to be empty before the next collection day, we take everything away in one trip; the fees are stated in the quote. All drop-off points: Clearance and disposal in Winterthur.
Temporary storage when the new flat is not free yet
Emergencies often do not match the calendar: the old flat has to be empty, the new one is only free in two weeks. Then we collect the furniture, store it with us and deliver it as soon as you can move in. How emergency storage works: Emergency storage.
Old town
Winterthur’s old town is largely car-free. A move there needs an access permit and fixed time slots – in an emergency that cannot always be arranged at short notice. So tell us on the phone whether your address is in the old town; then we plan the carrying route from the nearest permitted stopping place.
